Slow Cooker Turkey with No-Fuss Gravy



This turkey recipe for the slow cooker is great for any event or holiday where you want to save time and effort. You can have tender, flavorful turkey and delicious gravy without much work if you don't do much prep work.

Ingredients:

  • 1 12-pound turkey, thawed if frozen, giblets removed
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

Pat the turkey dry with paper towels

Rub the outside of the turkey with olive oil, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and sage

Place the onion, carrots, celery, and garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker

Place the turkey on top of the vegetables

Pour the chicken broth over the turkey

Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165F 75C

Remove the turkey from the slow cooker and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving

Strain the liquid from the slow cooker into a saucepan

In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and water until smooth to make a slurry

Whisk the slurry into the liquid in the saucepan

Bring the gravy to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until thickened

Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste

Serve the turkey with the no-fuss gravy
