Homemade Ricotta, Tart Cherry and Italian Sausage Pizza



This pizza with homemade ricotta, tart cherries, and Italian sausage tastes great because it has both sweet and savory flavors. When you add gooey melted cheese and fragrant herbs on top, the tart cherries and savory Italian sausage go really well with the creamy ricotta cheese.

Ingredients:

  • 1 homemade pizza dough
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup tart cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1/2 cup cooked Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions:

Set your oven to 475F 245C before you start cooking

On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into the shape and thickness you want

Put the dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet

Add salt and pepper to taste to the ricotta cheese in a small bowl

Cover the pizza dough with the ricotta mixture

Spread the cooked Italian sausage and tart cherries out evenly on top of the ricotta layer

Mix the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses together and then sprinkle them on top

Add olive oil to the pizza and dried oregano on top of it

It should be baked in a hot oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese melts and bubbles

Take it out of the oven and let it cool down a bit before cutting it

Before serving, sprinkle with fresh basil leaves
